The Euro coins from Cyprus
On 1 January 2008 the euro became legal tender in Cyprus, replacing the Cyprus pound (CYP) at the irrevocably fixed exchange rate of 1 = CYP 0.585274 .
It was stipulated that the name of Cyprus would be embossed on the coins in the two national languages, Greek (ΚΥΠΡΟΣ) and Turkish (KIBRIS).
Την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2008 το ευρώ απέκτησε ισχύ νόμιμου χρήματος στην Κύπρο, αντικαθιστώντας τη λίρα Κύπρου (CYP) με την αμετάκλητα καθορισμένη συναλλαγματική ισοτιμία 1 = CYP 0.585274 .
Προβλεπόταν ότι το όνομα της Κύπρου θα ήταν ανάγλυφο στα νομίσματα στις δύο εθνικές γλώσσες, τα ελληνικά (ΚΥΠΡΟΣ) και τα τουρκικά (KIBRIS).
1 Ocak 2008'de avro, Kıbrıs poundunun (CYP) yerine geri alınamaz şekilde sabitlenmiş döviz kuru olan 1 = CYP 0,585274 ile değiştirilerek Kıbrıs'ta yasal ödeme aracı haline geldi.
Kıbrıs'ın adının Yunan (ΚΥΠΡΟΣ) ve Türkçe (KIBRIS) olmak üzere iki ulusal dilde sikkelere basılması şart koşulmuştur.

Antik Yunanlıların en iyi korunmuş ticari gemisi, 1967'de dalgıç Andreas Karolou tarafından keşfedilmiştir.

Motive: The Idol of Pomos
The Idol of Pomos, a cross-shaped idol dating back to the chalcolithic period (3.000 B.C.), found in Pomos, a village in the district of Paphos. It is a characteristic example of prehistoric art in Cyprus, reflecting the islands antiquity and civilization.
Στα κέρματα 1 και 2 η εθνική όψη θα απεικονίζει το «Ειδώλιο από τον Πωμό». Πρόκειται για σταυρόσχημο ειδώλιο από πικρόλιθο της χαλκολιθικής εποχής (3000 π.Χ.) το οποίο αποτελεί δυνατό και χαρακτηριστικό δείγμα της κυπριακής προϊστορικής τέχνης και αντιπροσωπεύει τον πολιτισμό και την αρχαιότητα της Κύπρου.
Pomos putu, bir Kıbrıs köyü olan Pomos'dan tarih öncesi bir heykel. Heykel Bakır Çağı dönemine tarihlenir, M.Ö. yaklaşık 30ncu yüzyıl. Heykel, Lefkoşa'da (Nicosia) Kıbrıs Arkeoloji Müzesi'nde gösterimdedir. Kıbrıs'ın tarih öncesi sanatının bir örneği olarak bu put Kıbrıs euro madeni paraları 1 ve 2 euro'da gösterilmek için seçildi.
