Les monedes de Xipre
A partir del 1 de gener de 2008, l'euro tindrà curs legal a Xipre, substituint a la lliura xipriota (CYP) al tipus de canvi irrevocable de 1 = 0.585274 CYP.
On 1 January 2008 the euro became legal tender in Cyprus, replacing the Cyprus pound (CYP) at the irrevocably fixed exchange rate of 1 = CYP 0.585274 .
Την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2008 το ευρώ απέκτησε ισχύ νόμιμου χρήματος στην Κύπρο, αντικαθιστώντας τη λίρα Κύπρου (CYP) με την αμετάκλητα καθορισμένη συναλλαγματική ισοτιμία 1 = CYP 0.585274 .
Maastricht kriterlerinin yerine getirilmesi durumunda 1 Ocak 2008'den itibaren Kıbrıs Rum Kesimi'nin üye olduğu Avrupa Birliği'nin para birimi Euro ()'ya geçilmesi öngörülmektedir.

Στα κέρματα 1 και 2 η εθνική όψη θα απεικονίζει το «Ειδώλιο από τον Πωμό». Πρόκειται για σταυρόσχημο ειδώλιο από πικρόλιθο της χαλκολιθικής εποχής (3000 π.Χ.)
το οποίο αποτελεί δυνατό και χαρακτηριστικό δείγμα της κυπριακής προϊστορικής τέχνης και αντιπροσωπεύει τον πολιτισμό και την αρχαιότητα της Κύπρου.
Pomos putu, bir Kıbrıs köyü olan Pomos'dan tarih öncesi bir heykel. Heykel Bakır Çağı dönemine tarihlenir, M.Ö. yaklaşık 30ncu yüzyıl. Heykel, Lefkoşa'da (Nicosia) Kıbrıs Arkeoloji Müzesi'nde gösterimdedir. Kıbrıs'ın tarih öncesi sanatının bir örneği olarak bu put Kıbrıs euro madeni paraları 1 ve 2 euro'da gösterilmek için seçildi.
